A sparkling late night club, covered in glitter from its ceiling to its stage, the MOTH Club is one of the most popular places to see a band or catch some comedy in Hackney. Concerts by up-and-coming bands are frequently staged at this intimate venue where a certain Lady Gaga has played live. MOTH stands for the Memorable Order of Tin Hats, referencing the old network of members' clubs for military veterans originally set up in South Africa. Head to the small front bar room, away from the dance floor, to feel the working men's club heritage. Club nights vary from Karaoke and Cave Club to Maddonnathon and ABBA parties, or you can stop by for one of their cinema nights. With programming by Lanzarote, who also run Camden's Lock Tavern , Homerton's The Adam & Eve , Stoke Newington's The Waiting Room, and Dalston's Shacklewell Arms .
