Picturehouse CentralA vast and much needed improvement on the old Cineworld cinema in the Trocodero, Picturehouse Central opened in June 2015 and was treated to a full spread in design bible Wallpaper magazine, no less. The seven screen cinema which has its own cafe, bar and private members bar, is a design triumph, from the grand staircase you first walk up to the roof terrace looking down on Haymarket. There's art here too. Illustrations from renowned artist Patrick Vale document the history of cinema and friezes take you back in time as you move up to the second floor. Each screen has a name, not just a number, and screen 1 is the jewel in the crown, hosting film premieres and big-name Q & As. All of the screening rooms have state-of-the-art screens, luxurious seats and bespoke wall paneling. Picturehouse members have access to the members bar and regular strands, including Discover Tuesdays and Vintage Sundays as well as discounted tickets. Also expect film festivals galore with London Film Festival, London Short Film Festival and Sundance London all showing screenings at this beautiful central London cinema.
