Hard to believe but the good people of Chiswick haven't had a local cinema since the 1930s. All that will change when The Chiswick Cinema opens, screening current releases and family films on the High Road where Rambert Dance Company used to be. The luxury cinema houses five screens, a bar and kiosk on the ground floor as well as a private members' bar above and offers comfortable seating and easy access. The project is overseen by Lyn Goleby, co-founder and former managing director of Picturehouse cinemas who brings with her twenty-five years' experience in the industry. Some trivia for film fans: Chiswick's Electric Cinema and Cinema Royal - now The Old Cinema antiques shop - both closed in 1933. Eighty-seven years on, the moving pictures are making a comeback.
