Viktor Wynd launched his Little Shop of Horrors in 2009 and in 2014 it re-opened as a museum of rare and priceless marvels of the natural and scientific worlds. Hovering halfway between theatre and sculpture, shop and museum, The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & Natural History is, like its founder, both an installation and a performance. Unusual and contrasting items include Dodo bones and McDonald's Happy Meal toys, Old Master etchings and mad women's doodles. Any attempt at categorization is bound to fail. The museum is divided into two parts: the Upper Galleries, with up to two art exhibitions a year, and the double-vaulted basement Wunderkabinett, displaying the permanent collection of Curiosities, Natural History and Fine Art, from old master etchings to tin toys and extinct birds in custom-built and salvaged museum cases. Also on the upper floors are a coral reef aquarium, a minute gift shop and a tiny macabre baroque cocktail bar and cafe. Added to these are talks on taxidermy and The Occult, lubricated with the finest cocktails, and for the more adventurous there's The Lion Room - tucked deep in the bowels of the lower galleries - available for private hire for dinners and intimate encounters for up to ten people.
