With a Banksy in the lobby and 360 degree views of the city, The Gate is an aparthotel for the modern traveller. Situated in Whitechapel, just a one-minute walk from Aldgate East tube station, the hotel has fitted out 20 floors with 189 one and two bed apartments. No two rooms are the same, with unique art and bespoke upholstery and new mid-century furniture in each. Rooms can be interconnected to accommodate families and some offer 360 degree skyline views. You can even arrange to have a Peloton bike put in your apartment so you can work out while overlooking city sights like The Gherkin, The Shard and Brick Lane. Artwork around the hotel, overseen by Maddox Gallery, is modern and contemporary and the ground floor cafe, Maple & The Gate, is run by healthy-eating trailblazer Maple & Co. Bathroom amenities are by New York fragrance brand, Le Labo, at this aparthotel which bridges the gap between hotel and self-catering apartment where you can stay for one night or up to three months. With a boutique gym and full-service amenities, it feels like a better version of your own home.
