Technically, disco never died but it has been in need of a revival, which is lucky because 2013 saw the opening of Disco in Soho. Created by the Inception Group - the people behind Barts, Mr Fogg's and Bunga Bunga - the underground club is inspired by the disco movement of the 1970s and indulges in choreographed dance routines, nightly live music performances and classic disco tracks. After descending down a graffiti clad staircase, guests will be reminded of the glamorous days of air travel with a Pan Am-inspired lounge, where air stewardesses issue boarding passes and check personal items. Then, on the other side of the aeroplane doors, a world of camply-attired staff, cocktails in oversized glitter balls, retro TVs screening music videos and busts of Michael Jackson's head awaits. Bespoke cocktails are served from a 'vintage fairground stall' bar and DJs play both current and retro hits, encouraging revellers to boogie the night away under the large glitter ball. A midnight countdown also takes place each night, celebrating the beginning of another year of disco.
