Visitor Information
Once one of those terrible Babushka bars, all flashy decor, high prices and rude service, this has changed into one of the nicest bars in Brixton. It's not much to look at, with bright colours, and gorgeous bar staff compensating for the rudimentary decor, but on the night we were there, the atmosphere was very special indeed.
We arrived at 10 in the evening to find a serious party in full swing, with Brixton's eccentric locals mingling happily with artists and Clapham sloanes. A magnificent Latin blues band, with a lead singer/guitarist who must have been five foot high including his hat, was followed by a DJ playing some brilliant fifties music. The wine and cocktails are very reasonably priced, there's a big garden, tango lessons in the evenings, a little craziness, and no attitude. Well worth stepping off the beaten track for.
