This pub manages to successfully walk the increasingly fine line between traditional beer drinking with top quality food in a way that some gastropubs fail to. Yes, this does mean that prices are above your average pub grub levels but the food is a forte here. Owners Freddie Fleming and Ollie Pudney who renovated the place in late 2007 are clearly proud of their top quality suppliers - Neals Yard for cheese, Rushbury House Farm for beef, Huntsham Farm for middlewhite pork. And the menu includes classic British dishes from cauliflower cheese pie to slow cooked shin of beef, served with mashed parsnips and spinach.
