The Cadogan Arms has been given a facelift by Tom and Ed Martin - the brothers behind The Botanist, The Gun, The Well, Hat & Tun and The Empress of India. This Kings Road venture is a good hike (or bus ride) from the Sloane Square end of the famous shopping street where you'll find their sister restaurant, The Botanist. But it's worth the walk. Food comes from head chef Darius Endriukaitis (formerly at Guy Ritchie's pub, the Punch Bowl) who's devised a British menu with things like pan-fried mackerel with pickled beetroot and braised beef cheek with mash. For afters, choose from a delicious rum and raisin sticky toffee pudding or pistachio nut brownie with white chocolate strawberries. Wash it all down with a full bodied red from the international wine list or settle in for an afternoon with a pint - Adnams Broadside and London Pride ales are on tap. As you recline you may well get the feeling you're being watched... not by the manager, but by the stuffed animals whose heads are mounted on the walls. Foxes, ferrets, fish and bison all bear witness to the eating, drinking and merry making. For more fun and games, head upstairs to the Billiards Room - restored to its original purpose.
