Utterly immersed in the local community, this long, thin old-school boozer is a cosy little Celtic cave. Irish ex-pats prop up the bar, drinking the black stuff while cheerfully bragging that it’s the best Guinness in south London. The Greyhound is so Irish, that this shamrock-shaped pub serves up hurling, Gaelic football and Irish music on a regular basis.
Stepping inside, the pub is deceptively long. It’s a bit of a warren - the main front bar gives way to two smaller rooms through a couple of doorways.
Drinks-wise, aside from Guinness, punters can also sink a pint of Bombardier, Courage Best and London Pride. Appealingly, there are also rows of rarely-seen Irish whiskeys lined up - Middleton, Powers, Locker’s Hewitt’s Connemara and Green Spot to mention a few. Sampling one of these, promises a real taste of the Emerald Isle.
