On the seventh floor of the stylish D&D South Place Hotel in East London, with views of London's iconic City skyline, the Michelin-starred Angler restaurant is a quintessentially British seafood restaurant overseen by Tony Fleming, previously executive chef at One Aldwych. The menu focuses on seafood and shellfish from across the British Isles and is complemented by a wine list of around 250 bins. In the far corner, the semi-private dining room for 14 commands spectacular views of City landmarks including the Gherkin and Tower 42. At the far end of the restaurant, Angler's west-facing terrace is a City hot spot, especially at sunset. In high summer there are BBQs and live DJs which create a good buzz. In the winter, heated parasols, hot toddies and cosy blankets keep guests warm. Weather dependent, it's always a good idea to call ahead to make sure the terrace is actually open.
