Cafe Murano is not a cafe at all but a restaurant specialising in northern Italian cuisine from one of the country's top chefs, Angela Hartnett who has put Samantha Williams in charge of the kitchen. With this 'cafe' Hartnett, who has spent time in the kitchens of Aubergine, Zafferano, L'Oranger and Petrus (which this location previously housed), has established a less formal alternative to her well known Michelin-starred Murano restaurant a short walk away. There's "an air of jollity", according to the Financial Times, at this 75 cover restaurant with interiors by Russell Sage where a regularly changing, seasonal menu of Italian dishes is served in a relaxed yet lively environment. The focus is on Northern Italy with signature dishes such as culatella pasta fritti, and fettuccine with wild boar as well as more hearty mains like roasted monkfish tail, and sausage stew. The dessert menu features Vin Santo (holy wine), an Italian dessert wine traditional in Tuscany, and Cantucci biscuits, roasted fig zabaglione, and traditional sweets such as panna cotta and tiramisu.
