The sumptuous surroundings of the Courthouse Hotel are more than most of us can afford, but fortunately you might be able to stretch to a meal in the delightful Carnaby brasserie for a bite-sized portion of the atmosphere.
We were loving the French onion and minestrone soups – deliciously flavoursome versions of old classics, whilst the seafood salad is a precision cooked muddle of prawns, scallops and squid, jostling with a handful of sweet, juicy, roast tomatoes. The only fault we could find with the rib-eye steak and the sea bass with a sumptuously savoury basil, caper and olive accompaniment, was their lack of originality. The crispy chips were an example to potato fryers across the city.
Widely regarded for its excellent pre-theatre menu which offers diners a decent choice without compromising on quality, quantity or service, this is a perfect spot for a bite before a show.
