After browsing around Old Spitalfields Market Crepe Affaire is the Continental way to replenish energy levels. Although coffee, tea and ice cream are served the main attraction is the traditional thin French pancake, made with organic flour. These sweet or savoury crepes are sold as fast food, just as they are throughout France. It's a simple, piping hot alternative to pasties or sandwiches and there are plenty of options on the menu. Choose from salmon and cream cheese, strawberry and chocolate (higher calories, but still a lot healthier than a doughnut), or you can build your own. For a really good value lunch, though, there are few things in the world more comforting than a basic ham and cheese crepe. There are a few Crepe Affaires around London; the first, in Hammersmith, was set up in 2004.
