Food Lab owner-manager Liliana Tamberi hails from the Tuscan hills and it shows in her delightful cafe and deli half-way down Essex Road. Italian ingredients fill the salads, pasta, bruschetta and risotto dishes with bags of flavour. Love, Sex, Happiness and Recovery smoothies are a cute touch too. Breakfast on sultana scones or egg and bacon muffins or drop in for Nutella tarts at tea. Take away deli offerings include Italian specialist cheeses, preservative-free Food Lab pasta, olive oils and cured meats. Having worked at restaurants like the White Horse in Parson Green Liliana set up Food Lab to deliver restaurant quality food at more affordable prices. We can only applaud her for that. We also like the outside seating area where, in summer, the ice cream cart and wicker chairs are all the invitation you need to go al fresco.
