Though essentially a Vietnamese restaurant Nam Long became a destination cocktail bar in the height of nineties hedonism. Famously, a group of young city bankers regularly hung out here, downing Flaming Ferraris - a cocktail so potent that could be used as an excuse for their outrageously obnoxious behaviour. Those heady days, when Jeffrey Archer's son and his crazy city friends gave the place its reputation, are long gone but the cocktails and the Vietnamese food remain. Entering the restaurant it's surprising that this narrow bar was the scene of such famously debauched scenes; the colonial-style wicker chairs are cheap looking and the space is cramped. Once you get over the disappointment though you'll find the place serves decent enough food - noodles and stir fry - but most importantly has a great atmosphere, helped by the flamboyant owner.
