You might need a little motivation to trek all the way up to the dreary top end of Kentish Town Road, so how does a great plate of steaming gnocchi in a mushroom and buttery sage sauce sound? All neighbourhoods need a good Italian restaurant and here we have just that. Hard working Italian couple Stefania Berdini and Marco Cicu run this little Sardinian influenced trattoria. Paper tablecloths cover the tightly packed tables, it can be a tad awkward squeezing through to your seat without incurring any major spillages. A good antipasto sardo is always the mark of a good Italian restaurant and Pane Vino doesn't disappoint. Bottarga features in quite a few dishes, this is a traditional ingredient made by salt drying grey mullet roe. They also do reliably delicious stone baked pizzas, rich fresh pastas and lovely Italian wines. A nice place for a family celebration or a cosy nice meal for two. The service can be a little erratic and not to everyone's taste, but this is a busy family-run bistro and not a Michelin star restaurant.
