Fine dining is done Thai style at Patara. Since 1990 branches of this restaurant have been sprouting up all over West London, this one is the youngest addition and is based in Soho. A calm retreat from the central London crowds. Orchids and silk add an air of romance, dark wooden tables and intimate lighting make it a comfortable experience. Aesthetics are important not just in the presentation of the decor but also in the delicate presentation of the food. You will come across some ingredients not often associated with Asian cooking, wild boar is sauteed with coconut red curry sauce and sweet basil, tender rack of lamb is accompanied by sweet rice rolls and spicy salad. Fun fusion dishes like the do-it-yourself Thai tacos show the chefs are keen to stretch the boundaries of Thai cooking a little. The food is professionally executed to the consistent standard that you would expect from a successful chain. A strong cocktail and wine list compliment the modern cuisine.
