Fusion cuisine just got more complicated with the arrival of this Japanese-Brazilian restaurant on the King's Road. Everything from the name of the venue (pronounced su-sheen-yo) to the cuisine and decor is a combination of the two cultures. The name takes sushi and sticks '-inho' on the end - diminutive, younger or smaller in Brazilian-Portuguese. And that's the vibe here with sake-based caipirinha cocktails and Brazilian background music creating a funky feel. On the menu you get raw fish, vegetables and pickles, as well as crispy pork belly with refried feijoada bean puree. One look at the CV of the man behind this crazy sounding concept, Oliver Girardet, explains this unusual fusion - he himself is a German Indonesian, now settled in London. It's a brave move opening anything in December 2008, at the height of credit crunch hysteria. Let's hope Brazilian chef Carlos Maia's expertise with sushi keeps the crowds coming back.
