An everyday nightmare situation: it's late, the shops are shut, and you really need an ostrich steak, a bottle of Cristal and a hundred grammes of Sevruga Caviar. Well, now Harrod's Food Hall has opened a late-opening convenience shop, just opposite the department store, so you never need to miss out on those little luxuries again. A few major cornershop standards are missing: there's no Special Brew, cigarettes or pornography, for example. But you can still pop in here to pick up things like washing up gloves, or a pint of milk. Still, the focus is definitely on the top end of the market. A mini-branch of 'Yo! Sushi' in one corner, an in-store bakery, and a Chinese medicine section with walk-in massage and aromatherapy sessions mean that this is even posher than M & S. If the store is a success, they're planning to open branches on high streets throughout the country.
