Heywood Hill, run by John de Falbe, sells old, new and antiquarian books, specialising in literature, history, architecture, biography, travel and a well-stocked children's department. Founded over seventy years ago by Heywood, it was run by himself and his wife, Anne and survived closure in 1942 thanks to help from Nancy Mitford. Despite refurbishment in 1990, thankfully the shop remains largely as it was. Booksellers are well read and happily give advice, recommendations and search out whatever you're looking for.
