The Norwegian Church and Seamen's Mission is well known in Rotherhithe, especially among the Norwegian community who it serves with a busy programme of worship and events. A Norwegian church has stood in London since the late 17th century and was moved to the area of Rotherhithe in the early 20th when timber trade in the London docks was in full swing. The church moved to its current location at St Olav's in 1927. The beautiful stained glass windows in the church serves as a reminder of its important maritime inheritance and the connection with the sea.
