Visitor Information
The first hundred names are now down on London's answer to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On the pavement outside St Paul's church in Covent Garden's Piazza, known as the actors' church, great Shakespeareans like Sir Lawrence Olivier rub shoulders with comedians The Two Ronnies, and rock stars The Rolling Stones.
There's a good mixture of names from the present (Ant & Dec, Billy Connolly) with the biggest British figures of the twentieth century (Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock) and anyone from the Commonwealth is allowed in, so there's a star for Australian Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman.
It's a slightly eccentric selection (room for Dame Edna Everage but not Dame Judi Dench? Ricky Gervais not Richard Attenborough?), but they'll be adding new names every year, so there should be plenty of time to recognise all the greats. And it's a much more attractive spot than Hollywood Boulevard.
