Sold to property developers in 2012 Television Centre in White City, home to the BBC for fifty years, has been redeveloped into restaurants, a boutique hotel and 950 new homes. But the BBC remains, in part, at least. The broadcaster retains three studios on the 14-acre site, including the famous Studio 1, and the grade II listed doughnut-shaped centre of the complex has been safeguarded. It has been turned into executive apartments while the forecourt in front of the building has become a public space with restaurants and occasionally hosting special events. The Allis, Bluebird, Kricket, Patty & Bun and Homeslice are just five of the restaurants to choose from. Behind these, the refurbished inner ring provides space for a 45-room Soho House hotel, White City House, which comes complete with a cinema and rooftop pool. Take a short walk along Wood Lane and you'll find more shops, restaurants and the temporary Troubadour Theatre at White City Place.
