Saved from being an obsolete eyesore, this impressive theatre is now a vibrant venue for art and photography exhibitions, private receptions, product and book launches, fashion shows, fashion sample sales and fairs. It's now a restored and liberated Grade II, listed landmark in trendy Notting Hill. It gets its name from its previous incarnation as a venue for amateur dramatics, employees of companies including Harrods, D. H. Evans and the BBC used to rehearse and perform here. But it wasn't just for the wannabes, Sir Laurence Olivier is among the notables who have graced the stage, making his professional debut here in 1925. The first ever production of Oscar Wilde’s Salome was also staged here in 1905. These days you're more likely to find models treading the boards with top designers like Christian Dior, Matthew Williamson and Alice Temperley opting to show their designs in this picturesque and historic hall.
