Visitor Information
The Rom, an East London skatepark designed and based on the popular skateparks in the US, opened in 1978 and in 2014 it became a listed building - the first of its kind in Europe to be given such a status. Rom Skatepark, designed by Adrian Rolt and G-Force, is the best example of a small number of skateparks that survive from the 1970s, according to English Heritage. Special features include The Pool, based on the keyhole pool at Skateboard Heaven in Spring Valley, and the 15 foot Performance Bowl, also based on an American prototype. The Snake Run, Four Leaf Clover Bowl and The Moguls - six bowls set in a triangle - give skaters, BMX riders and boarders a huge variety of areas to skate. Added to this a 7-foot wooden spine ramp a 4-foot wooden mini ramp and an indoor 6-foot ramp for rainy days, along with curved wall rides, jump box, flat banks, grind boxes and quarterpipes.
