Ruislip Lido Railway
The Ruislip Lido Railway is a 12-inch narrow gauge railway running on a line which takes passengers through lakeside woodlands from Woody Bay Station to Ruislip Lido (Water's Edge) Station. A fun family day out, the two and a half mile round trip takes about 35 minutes, passing alongside picturesque scenery as it skirts around the lake. The train is usually powered by a diesel locomotive but on summer Sundays and Bank Holidays, the steam engine 'Mad Bess' pulls the train. In the run up to Christmas they run a Mince Pie Special where children get to meet Santa Claus and adults get a free cup of tea or coffee with a mince pie.
