| Make a waterborne crossing over the River Thames from Ham House to Marble Hill House by boat. It's a seasonal foot/bike ferry which was started by Walter Hammerton in 1908 who charged 1d for each trip. It departs from the Twickenham towpath in Marble Hill Park, nearby Marble Hill House (home of George II’s mistress, Henrietta Howard, Countess of Suffolk) arriving at Ham House, the Stuart mansion built in 1610, on the Middlesex side. A picturesque and popular way to travel. |
