Sunday nights at the Duke of Kendal are not for the shy or retiring. If you're planning on coming by for a quiet pint you'll be in for a surprise. What is commonly the most sedate night of the week for most pubs is the quite the opposite here. Put aside thoughts of peacefully winding down at the end of the week and join in the lively sing-a-long sessions with June accompanying on the piano (from 7.30pm). Named after Charles Stuart, the only Duke of Kendal and son of King James 2nd and Anne Hyde, he was born in 1666 and died the next year. There is, however, a local connection as the park is named after his grandfather Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon.
