Although sold to property developers in July 2012, the BBC will remain, in part at least, at the iconic BBC Television Centre, its home since 1960. Plans for the 14-acre site include a studio space for the BBC, retail space with a cinema, a hotel and 1,000 new homes and flats. The famous grade II listed doughnut-shaped centre of the complex will be turned into executive apartments while the forecourt in front of the building will be remodelled into a public retail and leisure space. The inner ring behind will be refurbished to provide space for a hotel and apartments. Building work is set to being in 2015, opening up the famous BBC buildings to the public for the first time. In the meantime, you can still tour the building until 22nd February 2013 and the BBC remains in operation at the site until early 2013.
