The St. John Hotel, the hotel set up by Trevor Gulliver and Fergus Henderson, owners of the critically acclaimed St. John restaurant in Clerkenwell, is currently undergoing a change of ownership and some refurbishment, due to be completed on 1st May 2013 when the hotel will be renamed One Leicester Street. Acquired in December 2012 by international hotel group Unlisted Collection - the group which also owns the Town Hall Hotel - the public areas and rooms are being given a soft refurbishment while the restaurant's refit is more extensive, closing for 10 days from 10th to 25th March 2013. The bar closes from 1st March until 1st May. Situated in the heart of the West End, just off Leicester Square, on the site of what used to be Manzi's, the famous seafood restaurant, the hotel prides itself on having 'rooms that have everything the traveller needs and nothing that they do not'. Minimalist is the word that best describes the design of the hotel with the smallest guest rooms self-described as simply 'removing the need for a taxi home after supper'. When it comes to the food, the St. John doesn't disappoint, with the restaurant earning a Michelin star in 2012.
