One of London's most famous postcodes, W11 includes upmarket Notting Hill - famed for the popular Portobello Road market - and Ladbroke Grove - which holds the annual Notting Hill Carnival street party over the August bank holiday - as well as part of up-and-coming Westbourne Grove. Boasting some of the most expensive houses in the capital in close proximity to some extremely gritty post-World War II social housing estates, W11 is one of the most cosmopolitan and polarised areas of London. On the one hand you have the stuccoed Victorian and fine Georgian buildings such as the house owned by Prime Minister David Cameron, and on the other hand you have the rough council estates that caused riots in 1958.
