The Hotel Russell is a huge Victorian pile with stately art deco reception rooms and luxurious accommodation. The opulent public areas have recently undergone a £20 million refurbishment, restoring many original features from before World War II, and it is now a riot of marble, mirrors, mosaic and gilt. A perfect antidote to the blandly modern feel of many chain hotels.

Hotel has a lovely entrance hallway and staircase. It's
clean, comfortable and staff were very friendly and
courteous. Good fresh breakfast, would stay there

The Hotel itself lives up to the billing. It is ornate and quite beautiful and the staff are amazing. The rooms however are quite cramped and badly designed. A lot of rooms are interior and suffer from the constant hum of the generators/ fans, ventilation equipment etc that they back on to. |
