HIGHLIGHTS
# Air-con

The Hotel Russell is a huge Victorian pile with stately art deco reception rooms and luxurious accommodation. The opulent public areas have recently undergone a £20 million refurbishment, restoring many original features from before World War II, and it is now a riot of marble, mirrors, mosaic and gilt. A perfect antidote to the blandly modern feel of many chain hotels.

LondonTown customer reviews for Hotel Russell London

    Edited summary of customer comments

“I have already recommended this hotel to several friends” one happy guest told us. It certainly makes a good first impression: “Loved the façade of this elaborate hotel” and “The outside appearance of the hotel is very grand and impressive” were just two comments on its exterior while another said the “marble decor was very impressive”. One guest found the photographs on the website misleading, “the standard bedrooms are not as nice as the advertised executive bedrooms” which “was a let down for us”. Depending on your room you may find the “Air conditioning extremely noisy” and some rooms are “the size of a rabbit hutch!” All in all, though, most people found it “a vast improvement on the Russell of a few years ago”, praising the “Period look and feel of the hotel” and “Proximity to [Euston] train station and London centre” making it “ideal for various West End destinations such as Covent Garden and Leicester Square”.

Lovely staff. Room a bit small.

Hotel has a lovely entrance hallway and staircase. It's clean, comfortable and staff were very friendly and courteous. Good fresh breakfast, would stay there again.

The Hotel itself lives up to the billing. It is ornate and quite beautiful and the staff are amazing. The rooms however are quite cramped and badly designed. A lot of rooms are interior and suffer from the constant hum of the generators/ fans, ventilation equipment etc that they back on to.

Breakfast was lovely, the concierge was fantastic! Couldn't do enough to help! He was brilliant!! Rooms are small but no smaller than you'd expect in London! They served the purpose of being a lovely base for exploring the city! Most areas around a 20/25 min walk so not too bad! Would recommend!
